The Cardano AI Agent
Merkle is Cardano Smart AI's flagship AI Agent — the product users interact with, and the starting point of the wider Cardano Smart AI intelligence network.
Merkle began as Cardano Smart AI's conversational intelligence product — an AI companion focused on Cardano — and matured through Phase 1 and Phase 2 as increasingly specialized Cardano intelligence was built around it.
Specialized intelligence available today
- Wallets and portfolios
- Cardano native tokens
- Cardano projects and protocols
- Transactions
- ADA staking and stake pools
- Governance
- Markets and sentiment
- Broader Cardano ecosystem knowledge
You can use it now in Merkle: connect or paste a Cardano address, or ask about any Cardano token, project, transaction or stake pool, and get a structured report rather than a generic chatbot answer.
Why intelligence came first
Before an AI agent can responsibly monitor, recommend or eventually act for a Cardano user, it has to understand Cardano deeply: how wallets and portfolios are structured, what tokens actually do, how protocols generate value, how staking rewards behave, and what market conditions mean in context.
That is why the first phases were spent building intelligence rather than automation. The infrastructure built behind Merkle during those phases becomes the foundation for its progression into the Agentic era.
Merkle's intended evolution
- 1UNDERSTANDWallets, tokens, projects, Cardano itself
- 2ANALYZEPerformance, markets, staking, risk
- 3PERSONALIZEContext and preferences of the user
- 4MONITORPortfolio, DeFi, markets, governance
- 5RECOMMENDPersonalized, explainable suggestions
- 6ACTUser-approved actions only
- 7AUTOMATEActions inside explicit permissions
Live today
- Understands Cardano wallets, tokens, projects, transactions, staking and market conditions
- Analyzes portfolios, historical performance, staking returns and token fundamentals
- Advises in plain language, grounded in verified on-chain and market data
Planned in later phases
- Deeper personalization of research and reporting
- Continuous portfolio and market monitoring
- Smart alerts and opportunity discovery
- Preparing transactions and finding efficient swap routes for user approval
- Autonomous actions inside explicitly defined permissions and security boundaries
- Interaction with specialized agents through the AI Agents Marketplace
This evolution is deliberately gradual. Each stage builds the intelligence, infrastructure and safeguards the next one requires, and nothing beyond analysis and advice is live today. The public roadmap tracks the sequence, including the Phase 5 AI Agents Marketplace and the Phase 6 Cardano Intelligence Network.
Why Merkle?
In the spirit of Cardano's tradition of naming its work after important figures in mathematics and computing, our Cardano AI Agent is named after Ralph Merkle, the computer scientist and cryptographer behind early public-key cryptography and Merkle trees — the data structure that underpins blockchains and distributed systems.
The name is an acknowledgement of that work. It does not imply that Ralph Merkle is associated with, involved in or endorses Cardano Smart AI.
